South African cricket legend AB de Villiers showcased his timeless talent by smashing a century off just 28 balls in the Taste of SuperSport Park exhibition match in Centurion. De Villiers’ explosive innings for Titans Legends included a staggering 15 sixes as he raced to his hundred. He retired immediately after reaching the milestone, having propelled his team to a massive score of 269 in 20 overs.

In response, Bull Legends, a team comprised of former rugby players from the Bulls Super Rugby side, were struggling at 125 for 8 wickets after 14 overs when rain brought the game to a halt.

Earlier in the week, De Villiers praised Indian cricket star Virat Kohli for his approach in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He commended Kohli for adapting his game and believes winning an IPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) would be the perfect culmination to Kohli’s illustrious career.

RCB is set to begin their IPL campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22. The team is eager to secure their first ever IPL championship, a victory that would be particularly meaningful for Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since the league’s inception in 2008.

Speaking on JioHotstar, De Villiers defended Kohli against criticism regarding his strike rate earlier in the IPL season, deeming it “ridiculous.”

“The scrutiny over Virat’s strike rate was absolutely ridiculous. He had done exactly what his team needed from him. It is all about the situation,” De Villiers stated. He further added that Kohli plays with greater freedom when he has a reliable partner at the other end, but otherwise focuses on anchoring the innings.

In the initial six IPL matches, Kohli amassed 319 runs at an impressive average of 79.75, including one century and two half-centuries. However, his strike rate of approximately 141 faced criticism from some fans and analysts who felt his cautious approach, especially against spin bowling, was hindering RCB’s progress.
