Ruben Amorim has responded to Roy Keane, stating that his own opinion is more important than the former Manchester United captain’s.

Keane strongly criticized Bruno Fernandes in a heated discussion with Ian Wright about Manchester United’s underperforming players.

Keane, along with Wright, Gary Neville, and Jill Scott, discussed United’s recent performance before their 3-2 victory over Ipswich on Wednesday.

Keane delivered a passionate criticism, targeting United’s current squad, who are currently 14th in the Premier League.

Keane criticized Fernandes, saying that the captain’s “talent is not enough,” and disapproved of his celebration after scoring a free-kick in United’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

However, Wright strongly disagreed, believing United would be in a relegation battle without the Portuguese midfielder.

Amorim has now responded to Keane, arguing that the opinion of the United manager is the most important.

Amorim stated: “I heard about that, and I have a different opinion.”

“Bruno is very important for us at the club, especially for me. He is performing well in a challenging situation and always seeks responsibility.”

“I know sometimes, as captain, he gestures with his hands and criticizes teammates, but it mainly reflects the frustration of this year and last year.”

“Everyone has an opinion. Roy Keane has high standards for himself and his team, so it’s normal for him to have an opinion.”

“I have the opposite opinion, and I believe my opinion is more important than Roy Keane’s because I am the coach.”

Fernandes is United’s top scorer this season with ten goals and has started all but one game for the team.

Amorim, also from Portugal, feels that Fernandes’ only fault is showing his frustration.

The 40-year-old said, “He wants to win, and sometimes it’s very difficult to manage that frustration.”

Keane’s rant occurred on Stick To Football, sponsored by Sky Bet: “Looking at recruitment and the team.

“Show some fight, some speed, some quality in your play.”

“They draw at Everton, and it’s like they’ve won the cup. It’s bizarre.”

“Even the fans. I see fans at matches singing for Bruno [Fernandes]. I think they’re imposters.”

Wright interjected: “No bro, not Bruno.”

Keane leaned back and retorted: “You know what, Wrighty? I’ve had enough of that rubbish.”

“People [including him] are pretending to close players down.”

Roy Keane emphatically saying "Of course."

Wright continued, arguing Fernandes has the talent to “save” United from their poor form.

Keane responded, “They’re 15th in the league. And he’s saving them?! Praise the Lord.”

Bruno was named man of the match against Ipswich and contributed to all three goals at Old Trafford.

However, Fernandes’ captaincy has faced criticism in recent times.

Concerns have been raised about his perceived immaturity and dramatic reactions on the field, suggesting he might not be the ideal leader.

Fernandes and Amad Diallo are currently United’s top Premier League scorers, each with six goals.

Since joining in January 2020, only Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City has created more chances than Fernandes.

The Belgian player has created 109 chances, while Fernandes is close behind with 100.
