Former world number nine Andrey Chesnokov has offered his thoughts on the promising future of young tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva. He pointed out that the 17-year-old Russian player, fresh off victories at prestigious tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells, has demonstrated she is ready to compete and win at the highest levels of tennis.

Chesnokov highlighted Andreeva’s impressive wins against top players such as Sabalenka on fast courts, as well as multiple victories over Swiatek and Rybakina. Because of these results, he confidently stated that Grand Slam victories for Andreeva are not far away, possibly within the next year or two. He did clarify that this first major win might not necessarily occur at Roland Garros.

Chesnokov also suggested that Andreeva could experience a natural dip in form after her successful run in Indian Wells. He explained that it’s often challenging for players to maintain peak performance immediately after major tournament wins. He expressed anticipation for her upcoming performances in Miami, noting her young age and the inherent difficulty in consistently playing at an elite level.
