Former world number one, German tennis star Angelique Kerber, has been appointed as the new sports director for the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany. The announcement was made by the tournament’s press service.
According to the official statement, “Angelique Kerber takes on the role of sports director for the Bad Homburg Open! As a former world No. 1 and a grass-court expert, she possesses a deep understanding of players’ needs for optimal Wimbledon preparation. Her experience and passion will be invaluable in further developing the tournament.”
Kerber retired from professional tennis in July 2024. This year, the Bad Homburg tournament is scheduled to take place from June 23rd to 28th. Diana Schneider of Russia is the current reigning champion of the competition.
