According to David Higgins, Joseph Parker’s promoter, Anthony Joshua is aware of the danger Joseph Parker presents and is likely to avoid a rematch.

Joshua was present at ringside to witness Parker’s dominant knockout victory over Martin Bakole, who replaced Daniel Dubois due to illness.

Higgins speculates that while the Dubois vs Parker fight might not be rescheduled, Joshua may also be hesitant to step into the ring for a second fight with the New Zealander.

“Joe would eagerly accept a fight with AJ immediately, but I believe AJ would decline,” Higgins stated. “That is my personal opinion.”

Higgins added, “I think AJ is a good person and has had a successful career. However, in his recent fights, he has appeared uncomfortable in the ring, especially in his last bout. He seemed unwilling to be there.”

“Considering Joseph’s current fighting form, it would be a significant risk for Joshua and his team to face Parker. Most boxers tend to choose safer options, but Joseph Parker is different. He consistently opts for the most challenging and high-risk fights.”

Parker previously lost to Joshua by points in their 2018 match. However, the former WBO world champion is currently in excellent form, having secured victories against Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Bakole.

“I believe with each fight, especially his last three, Joseph is building more credibility and appearing more menacing. Opponents are starting to recognize him as a truly dangerous fighter.”

“After his recent performance, everyone will acknowledge his danger,” Higgins emphasized.

“We will wait to see what offers come next from Saudi authorities and Queensberry, and we will proceed from there.”

“Joseph is keen to return to the ring as soon as possible, ideally within four months. He is not one to delay; he prefers to keep active.”

“Any location would work, but summertime would be ideal,” Higgins concluded, regarding the timing of Parker’s next fight.

Following his victory over Martin Bakole, the WBO has declared Parker as the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk.

However, Usyk, who has announced plans to retire after two more fights, is expected to prioritize a rematch with Dubois for the undisputed world heavyweight titles.

“I believe a unification fight makes sense because it establishes the undisputed number one boxer,” Higgins commented.

“That is the ideal scenario. While we would welcome the Dubois fight next, I believe unification is beneficial for the sport and is the likely direction.”

“There would be significant financial gains and prestige, but egos and politics often complicate matters.”

“If the unification falls through, Joseph will be the next in line to fight either Dubois or Usyk and would be ready to face either of them within two months.”
