World No. 6 Daniil Medvedev has shared his thoughts on the court surface change at the Indian Wells Masters tournament. This year, the tournament features a new court surface, the same type used in Miami.

Medvedev stated, “I like Indian Wells, and I even like these courts now. However, they feel even slower than before, very slow.”

He added, “I’m unsure what other tennis players think. Also, I’ve only had two days here while still acclimatizing, so I could be mistaken. I’ll refrain from making definitive comments for now.”

Medvedev concluded, “We’ll see the court speed during the tournament. So far, I haven’t noticed a significant difference. But today, I accidentally dropped my racquet onto the court from a low height, and the grip tape tore. This indicates that the court is very rough, and when it’s rough, it’s slow.”
