World No. 11 Mirra Andreeva inflicted Elena Rybakina’s most significant defeat in over five years.
In the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, the Russian player conceded only three games to her opponent, with the score being 6-1, 6-2. Previously, a more substantial defeat for Rybakina occurred in September 2019 at a tournament in Nanchang, where she lost to Rebecca Peterson with an even lower game count (2-6, 0-6) in the final.
It is worth noting that this marks the most decisive loss for the player from Kazakhstan in major tournaments throughout her career.
