Badiashile Napoli Transfer Talks: Chelsea's €30m Demands Stall Deal
Several sources indicate that Napoli is in discussions with Chelsea regarding a potential move for Benoit Badiashile. However, significant hurdles exist, primarily Chelsea's €30 million valuation of the player and their unwillingness to agree to a loan deal with an option to purchase. This makes a transfer highly improbable at this stage.
Napoli is currently facing transfer restrictions this summer, which necessitates player sales before any new signings can be made.
Reports from Footmercato, Sport Mediaset, Fabrizio Romano, and Sky Sport Italia all confirm that negotiations are underway between Napoli and Chelsea for Badiashile.
Despite these talks, the terms of a potential deal are far from being finalized.
Napoli's Interest: A Loan Deal Preferred
Chelsea's asking price for the defender stands at €30 million. This valuation comes despite Badiashile making only 16 appearances across all competitions last season and not being a key part of Xabi Alonso's future plans.
Napoli's preference is to acquire Badiashile on a loan basis, with an option to buy him at the end of the season, rather than an obligation. Currently, Chelsea does not appear receptive to these terms.
Discussions are expected to continue for the 25-year-old French international, who has also attracted interest from Real Sociedad.
Chelsea originally paid €38 million to sign Badiashile from AS Monaco in January 2023. However, his progress has been hampered by a series of muscular injuries.
Given Napoli's struggles with similar injury issues last season, a move for Badiashile might not be the most strategic fit for the club.
