World No. 42 Gael Monfils has shared his thoughts after defeating Jan-Lennard Struff, ranked 46th, in the first round of the Indian Wells Masters tournament. Monfils secured a straight-sets victory, 6-4, 6-4, extending his head-to-head record against Struff to 4-0.
“The plan worked out well,” Monfils stated. “I am pleased with my movement, which was a key factor in today’s match. The conditions here are challenging, with a bit of wind, so it’s important to use slice shots and maintain patience. I’m also happy with my serve. I was able to serve powerfully when it mattered most, and that was very helpful. Playing against him is always tough. Our matches are always close, and I feel fortunate to have won again.”
