Harlem Eubank is preparing for his upcoming welterweight bout but hasn’t dismissed the possibility of a future match with Adam Azim, his rival in the super-lightweight division.

Eubank and Azim had initially agreed to a fight last year, but it was called off due to Azim’s injury. This postponement led to significant delays for Eubank, a frustration he still remembers.

“It can make you want to leave the sport. I responded by focusing even more in the gym and intensifying my training. I believe this year will show the results of that dedication,” he mentioned to Sky Sports.

“I feel fantastic and powerful. Welterweight seems to be my ideal weight class now. If a world title opportunity arises at 140lbs, we would consider it.”

“However, dropping back to 140lbs will be challenging. I am comfortable and strong at 147lbs, and I am ready to make a significant impact in this division.”

He feels he has unresolved issues with Azim and believes their fight is still a possibility in the future.

“I’m eager to make up for lost time,” Eubank stated. “When the opportunity comes around again, they will pay for the previous setback. For now, my complete focus is on my journey to becoming a world champion.”

“They wasted a lot of our time, but if we cross paths again at the world level, I will defeat him.”

“Payback is definitely coming at some point. But for now, I’m not dwelling on it.”

Eubank’s next challenge is against Tyrone McKenna, arguably the toughest opponent of his career so far.

Fighting in his hometown of Brighton, this will be Eubank’s second fight in 16 months.

“I can sense the excitement growing. Everyone is eager to be part of the event. Even the weather is cooperating, just in time for what should be a fantastic weekend here,” Eubank commented on his Friday fight.

Reflecting on his training, he added, “I’ve had a very intense training camp and excellent preparation. I’m ready to get in the ring and demonstrate all the hard work I’ve put in.”

“I’ve sparred extensively with southpaw fighters, and I believe it has become a real strength for me during this camp.”

When asked for a prediction for his upcoming fight, Eubank remained somewhat general: “A dominant performance. If a knockout happens, it wouldn’t be unexpected. But that’s not my primary goal.”

Tommy Welch, a WBC-ranked bridgerweight contender, is also on the Brighton fight card.

“I want titles, major fights, and career progression. I took some time off last year after my child was born, but now it’s back to business,” Welch said.

For both Eubank and Welch, bigger fights may be on the horizon, but currently, their immediate upcoming fights are their main concern.
