Natasha Jonas’s trainer, Joe Gallagher, has strongly criticized Lauren Price for not attending a scheduled face-off. This promotional event was set for Tuesday morning to build hype for the Jonas vs. Price unification bout.
The fight, for the WBC, IBF, and WBA welterweight world titles, is scheduled at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday. Gallagher expressed his disappointment at Price’s absence, calling it “disrespectful.” He highlighted the importance of face-offs in the lead-up to major fights.
Gallagher also suggested that Price’s failure to appear might be related to struggles with weight, given her history fighting at higher weights.
Price defended her absence, explaining she was instructed to arrive later because of a morning weigh-in in Sheffield. She claimed it was a miscommunication and not her fault. Price also dismissed weight concerns, questioning Jonas’s suitability for welterweight considering her past fights in heavier divisions.
Despite the face-off controversy, the highly anticipated fight is still on for Friday at the Royal Albert Hall.
