The highly anticipated trilogy fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is officially set for later this year.

These two boxing stars will face each other for the third time in a world championship bout on July 11 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York. This match will be for the undisputed super-lightweight world title and is planned to headline an all-women’s fight card at the venue.

Their previous two encounters were both closely contested and exciting matches, with Taylor emerging victorious in both.

Taylor expressed her excitement, stating, ‘I want to thank everyone for making this trilogy happen. I am thrilled to be headlining at MSG again in July.’

She added, ‘I am currently 2-0 against Amanda, and it’s clear we have a special rivalry that always delivers excitement. A trilogy fight is the right step. The atmosphere at Madison Square Garden for our first fight was incredible, and I expect the same this time. I hope we can deliver another fantastic fight for the fans.’

Serrano also commented, ‘I promised my fans this trilogy would happen, and I am very thankful we are returning to Madison Square Garden where it all began to complete our journey.’

The fight is scheduled for 10 two-minute rounds.

However, Serrano voiced her disappointment that Taylor did not agree to make the fight 12 three-minute rounds, equal to men’s boxing standards. ‘I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor didn’t keep her word to make this trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, just like the men. This is the biggest payday of our careers, and we owed it to the fans to honor our handshake agreement. She didn’t,’ Serrano stated.

Despite this, Serrano remains focused on the fight. ‘Every time we fight, it’s a war, and I know July 11 will be the best one yet because I will finally get the win I deserve.’

She also highlighted the significance of the event. ‘Headlining an all-female card at MSG, representing both New York and Puerto Rico, is beyond anything I could have imagined.’

‘I am proud to be fighting alongside so many talented women on this card, and I hope our fight inspires young girls everywhere to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.’

Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions, the event organizers, commented, ‘This is more than just a fight; it’s a celebration of women’s boxing. Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor have already broken barriers and inspired countless people. This trilogy at Madison Square Garden is another major step for women’s sports.’

‘This all-women’s card demonstrates the progress in the sport and is the start of MVP’s continued commitment to promoting the next generation of female fighters.’
