Former world No. 3, Nadia Petrova, has shared her expectations for Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider’s performance at Indian Wells.
Petrova commented on the conditions: “This year, the tournament has changed the court surface. If the courts have become less grippy and faster, combined with the slight altitude, the speed of play will be high. This will favor players who prefer powerful tennis and approaching the net, as well as those comfortable on grass courts.”
Speaking about the players’ draws, Petrova added: “Looking at the women’s draw, it’s difficult to predict who among our players will go far. I think it might be the player who is least expected to advance and on whom fewer hopes are pinned. Mirra Andreeva has a very tough draw, requiring her to show her best tennis right from the start. Diana Shnaider, however, could be well-suited to the altitude and faster pace of play.”
