Wimbledon 2022 finalist Nick Kyrgios discussed his withdrawal during his opening match at the Indian Wells Masters. The Australian player stopped playing while trailing 6-7(7), 0-3 against Botic van de Zandschulp.
“Okay, I lost. It’s happened many times in my career. Right now, it’s about the amount of work. I still have severe wrist pain. I think that’s why I got a bit emotional at the end, because this is one of my favorite tournaments,” Kyrgios shared at the press conference.
Nick Kyrgios on his injury: In tennis, there has never been a case of someone trying to play after this type of wrist surgery.
