Nick Kyrgios, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist, has spoken out about the wrist injury that forced him to withdraw from his opening match at the Indian Wells Masters tournament.
Kyrgios expressed his frustration with the injury, stating that he genuinely enjoys playing tennis. He admitted that despite his sometimes complicated relationship with the sport, he is very upset because he wants to compete and is unable to do so.
The tennis player mentioned he is focusing on the future and doing everything he can to recover. He acknowledged that the imminent Miami Open isn’t ideal timing for his injury, but he feels obligated to participate. He will assess his wrist’s reaction and decide accordingly. If Miami is not feasible, he will target subsequent tournaments.
Kyrgios concluded by saying that he cannot afford to constantly look back and be upset, as it would negatively impact his enjoyment of tennis.
