22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has confessed that health issues prevented him from performing at his peak in recent years. After competing in only two tournaments in 2023, the Spanish tennis star underwent surgery and was sidelined until January 2024.
“After the operation, things progressed reasonably well, and I began my rehabilitation. About 6-7 months later, I started training again and felt in good shape. However, the issue was that I couldn’t push myself to the level I wanted. I felt certain limitations,” Nadal explained during an interview on Andy Roddick’s podcast.
“These past months have been challenging. I felt fit and eager to compete, but over time, I realized I was unable to perform at the level I expected. My movement wasn’t the same as before,” Nadal added.
