Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest player ever signed in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Samson highlighted Suryavanshi’s impressive ability to hit sixes and believes he is prepared to make a strong impact.

Suryavanshi, born on March 27, 2011, made history as the youngest player at the IPL mega-auction last year, joining Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore. He debuted in first-class cricket for Bihar in January 2024 at just 12 years old. He also showcased his talent in the India U19 match against Australia, scoring a century off 58 balls.

Furthermore, Suryavanshi was a top performer in the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup 2024-25, scoring 176 runs in 5 matches with a top score of 76 not out.

Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘SuperStar’ program, Samson mentioned that today’s young players are confident and understand the aggressive style of cricket expected in India.

Samson prefers to observe young players first, understanding their playing style and support needs, before offering advice. He noted Suryavanshi’s confidence and power-hitting ability displayed at the academy. Samson emphasized the importance of understanding and supporting Suryavanshi’s strengths, acting as a mentor.

Sanju Samson believes that Vaibhav, who has already played T20 cricket for Bihar, is ready to contribute in the IPL. He stressed the Rajasthan Royals’ commitment to providing a relaxed and positive environment to help players thrive. Samson speculated that Suryavanshi could potentially play for India in the future and reiterated his readiness for the IPL, anticipating impactful performances from him.

Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2025 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
