Shamil Tarpischev, the President of the Russian Tennis Federation, thinks that Andrey Rublev should consider working with a psychologist. This recommendation comes after Rublev’s two defeats following his victory in Doha.
According to Tarpischev, “He needs a psychologist. Rublev’s issue is that he consistently overtrains. He is such a dedicated player that he trains excessively, which is actually detrimental to him. He doesn’t recognize when he needs to stop and rest.”
Tarpischev added, “I often had to stop his training sessions at the Davis Cup because he was pushing himself too hard. He needs to properly organize his training and tournament schedule to allow for adequate recovery time. If he does this, his results will improve, and his performance will become more consistent instead of fluctuating between wins and losses.”
