Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced the signing of Harsh Dubey as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran for the rest of the IPL 2025 season. Smaran has been ruled out due to an injury.
Dubey, a versatile all-rounder from Vidarbha in domestic cricket, joins the SRH squad for a sum of Rs 30 lakh. He boasts a notable record across formats, having taken 127 wickets and scored 941 runs in his career across 16 T20s, 20 List A, and 18 First-Class matches. His outstanding performance in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy, where Vidarbha emerged victorious, earned him the Player of the Tournament award for his 69 wickets and 476 runs as a left-arm-spin allrounder.
Before the IPL 2025 season, Harsh Dubey participated in trials held by several franchises, including Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
It`s worth noting that Smaran Ravichandran himself had joined SRH just last month. He was brought in as a replacement for the injured Adam Zampa at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Smaran, who represents Karnataka in domestic cricket, has showcased impressive form. In seven first-class games, he has accumulated over 500 runs with an excellent average of 64.50, including a double century against Punjab.
Since his List A debut in 2024, he has played 10 matches, scoring 433 runs at an average of 72.16, featuring two centuries. In the T20 format, he has scored 170 runs in six matches at a striking strike rate of 170.
Smaran was one of the standout performers in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 433 runs in seven innings at an average of 72.16 and a strike rate just over 100. His crucial knock of 101 off 92 balls in the final was instrumental in Karnataka lifting the title.
Currently, SRH are facing a challenging season, sitting on the brink of elimination with only three wins from 11 games. They are set to host Delhi Capitals on Monday evening, hoping to give their IPL 2025 campaign a final push.
