Respected Russian coach Viktor Yanchuk has shared his thoughts on Andrey Rublev’s loss to Matteo Arnaldi in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters, with a score of 4-6, 5-7.
“I would say it’s worth noting the fluctuations in Rublev’s form. Even before he won the tournament in Doha, there was an upswing, and then some kind of decline, as is usually the case. If there’s a large margin of strength, you can play two or three tournaments. It seems he simply expended too much energy,” Yanchuk commented.
The specialist also spoke about Novak Djokovic’s unexpected departure from the tournament.
“This indicates that his time, in general, has passed. Now, I don’t know what he can hope for. Some lucky wins? It’s unlikely he’ll win another Grand Slam, and he’s already set a record for this indicator.”
